2019 Lifetime Achievement Award annoucement

Dear Members, On behalf of the New York Society for Surgery of the Hand Executive Committee, it gives me great pleasure to announce that Dr. Steven Glickel has been chosen as the society’s 2019 Lifetime Achievement Award winner. We all know that Steve is more than deserving of this award. Steve is a Clinical Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at NYU Langone Health and is the Director of Hand Surgery at The Roosevelt Hand to Shoulder Center at OrthoManhattan.  From 2001 to 2016, he was the Director of the C.V. Starr Hand Surgery Center at St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital Center.  Steve has trained many of the pre-eminent hand surgeons in practice today, including many members of the NYSSH and leaders of the ASSH. Steve served as President of the ASSH from 2007-2008, Chair of the AFSH from 2016-2018, and of course, President of the NYSSH from 2001-2002. He has published many of the seminal papers in our hand surgery literature and has lectured throughout the world.  On top of all of his numerous accomplishments, Steve is a really nice guy and a true gentleman in every sense of the word! Steve will be presented with this honor at our next meeting on March 26, 2019 at the Union Club. Please help me to congratulate Steve on this well-deserved honor. Sincerely, Richard S. Gilbert, M.D. Secretary, The New York Society for Surgery of the Hand
